The quality of the Chat channel has declined sharply after the PvP weekend, I don't know why. It's *all* sex & insults now in the PvP area, in the PvE areas (outside LA & Droks district 1) the tradespam is pretty silly. Also the "noobcake" calling has increased. I hardly ever saw real noob-calling until the PvP weekend, now it's pretty common in the PvP arenas.
This on the EU servers, don't know how it is in the US.
I still have local chat turned on, but the situation is definitely deteriorating.

quite so Fantus. I have some wonderful friends I've met from online gaming (though I myself AM pretty antisocial, but in real life more so that in gaming). Yes it is hard to ignore it when every second there are lines of WTS RANDOM GREEN THING WITH LOADS OF RUBBISH ABOUT HOW UBER IT IS INSERTED HERE flashing up and down or how OMG STFU N00B or ANYONE WANNA CYBER!. I always have team chat on. But I don't want exposure to selling (if i did i'd have trade on :roll, I don't want exposure to sexual desperation (see enough of that in real life) and I don't need morons telling everyone how noobish they are. If this was the minority, I'd happily keep local chat on, but as the community has grown, so have the morons, and unfortunately you rarely see any 'normal' chat there now. I'm sure it goes on, it's just hidden amongst the lines and lines of spam I wanna meet people but hey, im not gonna expose myself to rubbish and abuse in a game where i'm trying to enjoy myself.
oh and this is on US servers

And HOW many young under-legit-playing-age users are that?
I find their speech, as they are trying to act older than they are, and act like complete idiots.

You are joking right art_??? Please tell me you are joking...
I've yet to have a problem with observer mode, except for newbies asking questions - which I usually answer (though some feel the need to flame newbies for some reason) - observer mode is quite safe on the European servers at least.

If you've had your local chat disabled since June how did you see that the other day? o.0
Or was it in trade chat...

I tend to keep local chat off unless I am looking for a group. I have no time nor need to 'listen' to someone brag about how good they are, flamewars, cyber offers, or any of the other nonsense that general goes on. Way too much headache.

I also keep local chat down unless I'm looking for group. I have no need or want to listen to bunch of schoolyard fights, chatters, etc. And to me, that's about all that you find in there. *sighs*

Unfortunately much of the inanity seems to be in Temple of Balthazar and Random Arenas. I guess becuase there are no groups really being formed there, so people just stand around saying stupid things. If you're on really late/early, most of the kiddies have gone to bed and you can have a decent conversation, I've found.
I really think there should be an "Internet License". You should have to be a certain age and be aware of basic netiquette, usage of Google, and search functions on Forums to be able to get on it.

i usually have the local char turned off. i turn it on if no guildies or friends are on and i'm LFG in heros ascent.
what annoys me the most is the item SELLERS in the pvp areas that use the local chat. they have been increasing lately, they are idiots and i find the the hardest to ignore.
i wish there was a button in GW were i could completly ignore ppl so that i won't see any msg the say, even in local chat. goddamn the sellers are annoying me!

When Observer Mode was released I thought I would check it out. Within the very first minute of my very first Observer Mode match I had to turn off Observer Chat as it was filled with lamers, idiots & jerks.

On the PvP Factions weekend, the RA outpost became unbearable. It seemed that I was the only one there not shouting ' EvErY1 GeT naKeD and d4nce,' or spamming Chuck Norris Quotes.
Now instead we have the pretensious, wannabe intellectuals in RA ID1 telling us how god doesn't exist, the corporations are raping the world for money and that all our houses should really be made of a combination of solar panels, windmills and tofu. Anyone who disagrees is, of course, a misinformwd conformist..*local channel off*

There was someone spamming Chuck Norris jokes during the first EvIL vs. WM match.
It's beyond old. The horse is dead and beaten, and the investigator is closing the barn door after it disappeared.
<or insert your own analogy that makes sense here>

For some reason I stumble into matches in Observer mode where two or three players start insulting each other... you see the usual words; 'noob', 'stfu', 'sux'.
You know it's getting good when you start reading insults involving other people's mothers. Oh yeah, that's when I stop watching the match and focus 100% on the chat. /sarcasm

There it is! Exactly why I started this rant. I really like observer mode, and would like to here comments reguarding the MATCHES from other people.
